Recently bought a Gibson Les Paul. I have had many guitars in my time and am still at a tender age of 23. I have played Schecter Diamond Series, Ibanez Prestige Series, ESP Horizons, tried a few Caparisons. However, the Les Paul has always been my dream guitar, so I went with that, and it plays like an absolute dream.
My current set up is a Peavey 6505 or Laney Ironheart, Framus Cobra V30 cab, Maxon od9 (typical metal set up). I also use a Schecter ATX with Seymour Duncun blackouts. I love the sound of actives, but don't want to deface my precious gibbo with actives.
I'm looking for a passive alternative which will give me high output, warmth and sustain. The burstbuckers pros are not for me at all.
All suggestions are welcome. I have been looking at Suhr Aldrich, Bareknuckle, Duncun JB's along with many other brands.
How would you be 'defacing' your Gibson? If you mean the battery, just stick it in the control cavity.
