about a year ago or so I started replacing stock PU's in some of my 7-string guitars.
I installed a CrunchLab/Liquifire combo in an RG827 premium, and I installed Blazes in another RG827.
Just a few weeks ago I installed another CL/LF in one of my Sterling byMM JP70s and an AirNorton/ToneZone combo in another JP70.
Here is how I like them: my favorite of all of them are the Blazes (especially the neck PU), my 2nd favorite would be the CL/LF, but especially the LF seems to sound better in my RG827 than in the JP70, and I was wondering if the pick-up placement could be the reason for that: due to the truss rod adjustment screw placement at the bottom of the neck, the neck PU is a bit farther from the neck on my JP70 than it is on the RG. To me the LF in the RG sounds a bit fuller and woodier (if that makes any sense, either way, it just sounds better to my ears), could the placement of the PU be the reason for that?
Now I am considering getting the Illuminator 7 PUs, but I am not sure whether to get them or another pair of Blazes for my third JP70.
Also, I don't know if I will like the Blazes as much in my JP70 as I do in my RG827.
Sorry for the wall of text, but any input/suggestion would be much appreciated!
Oblig: If you like blazes, I think you'll really like the Miracle Man in the bridge. It's awesome.
