In the market for some new pups. I currently use EMG's so I want something passive and much more organic with character and voice. EMG's are somewhat sterile processed sounding.
I have a Mahogany guitar with maple neck and rosewood fingerboard. I have an ENGL Fireball 100. I play rhythm.
I play mostly heavy metal, thrash for example Metallica, Megadeth, 5FDP, Sabbath (DIO Years), etc. Not into deathcore, metal core or anything to that nature.
I want a growly kinda bridge for heavy rhythm but not muddy and i want a neck that is clean, clear and bright not too bassy. I also play Pink Floyd so I want something that cleans nice.
I have been looking at the following:
Tone Zone/Air Norton
Ceramic Nailbomb/Cold Sweat
What do you guys think? Thanks
Have you tried the EMG 57/66? I've been hearing nothing but great things about them, and they may be a good place to start before completely gutting your guitar.
