Tossed my new BKP's (Rebel Yell, Mississippi Queen) into my LP Studio last night. Yeah, MUCH better than all the other crap I had in there. I'd say, in order of tone...
5. Dirty Fingers, stock
4. No pickups at all
3. EMG 57/66
2. '57 and '57+, stock pups from Epiphone LP
1. BKP, RY+MQ
Not much competition, but interesting for me that I've had so many different pickups in this guitar in a short time.
Now, currently, it is wired up fairly standard: \ bridge, | both, / neck. But, I really want to fuck it up like my Epiphone with some LED switches . I'm thinking of going near the same configuration, with an ON/OFF at the top, moving the pickup switching to the bottom, one volume, and two light-saber-y pickup configuration switches.
All of that is pretty easy, but I'm not sure what I want the two 2-way's to control. I'm thinking series/parallel for the HB, maybe the other would be a phase switch between the P90+Bridge? Just a polarity switcher for the P90?
You should put a FreeWay switch in there. 6 positions, no fiddling with extra switches, easy pickup changes, and the wiring isn't too scary. StewMac is the only US distributor, but it's worth every penny.
