First off let me start by saying that I ordered this pickup over a week ago. These bastereds didn't provide a tracking number from the start and upon arival, I found out that they sent my a Gibson p94R neck pick up instead of a p94T bridge (which is what it was advertised as).
My blood is already boiling and I really don't want to deal with these mother fuckers again by going through with the hassel of re-shiping this back to them so, my question for you guys is this: Is there a difference between the way bridge and neck pickups are made? It has always seemed to me that the only difference is that the neck pick-up is equipped with a longer wire to reach the pots but, I'm not sure if the bobins are wound differently or if their heights are the same.
I'd be extremly grateful to be informed about what to do here and hopefully, all I'm going to have to do is strip the wires back.
They tend to be "tuned" differently, with different windings and magnets to achieve a different sound when installed in the neck location, but the truth is, generally speaking, they are usually mechanically identical.
You can install a pickup meant for the bridge in the neck, and vice versa.
