I have an 92 Ibanez S540 LTD with the IBZ USA F2 on the bridge and since this is a kind of "sentimental" guitar to me so far I have managed to make it stay stock all these years.
Now I decided that I wanted to test new PUPS on her, I got used to the EMG 81 on the MTM2 and then I feel the 540 muddy and with some lack of response.
My question is if replacing the F2 for a Tone Zone wont I get a bit of the same? According to what I could gather online the F2 is similar to a TZ but I also have the chance on a good deal on a Duncan Distortion. Cant find a good comparison between the TZ and the Duncan...
Before anyone asks, I have no amp right now and only use Software, im a bedroom (house office in fact) player.
Some are already thinking I should stick to what I have since its already more than enough I know I know, but I want to try other PUPS
Any opinions you guys can share?
The TZ should be better that the F2 - likely a little more articulate, and somewhat clearer in the low end. The Distortion will be a VERY different beast, though, probably a little hotter but a lot brighter and without quite as thick a midrange. It's a little more "metal" while the TZ is probably a little more 80s rock.
