So, I've had the CST for a while now, awesome guitar (although I need to and I actually have to admit, I do not like the bridge pickup that much. I believe it's close to a Tone Zone 7, and I hated the TZ7, and really don't find that much to like about this. The neck pickup sounds cool though, so not fussed about that (although open to replacing it, in for a penny, in for a pound and all that).
Anyway, recommendations for a good bridge pickup for it? I was thinking an evolution7, but any other ideas considered.
Sound I am looking for is basically less shrill than what it has, good for metal, smoother and punchy, but not too over the top (ie, x2n7 isn't going to work in this). I also have to limit to standard height pickups, as i know some of the dimarzios (DActivator, I'm looking at you!) are a bit overly tall, and there's no way this guitar is getting routed out. Not even I'll do something as bad as that...
I've got a crunch lab 6 in my RG1550 and really like that. It's thick and faint but pretty smooth to my noob ears. But what I like most is that the top end is really smooth. I usually hate bridge pickups for cleans as they are too thin and harsh, but this has the harsh top rolled off but is still chimey. I don't know if they do a 7 or how it compares though.
