'Ello. I'm looking into replacing the V7/V8 set on my RGD as I find them a bit too muddy.
It's a really nice guitar and I'd like something really good to do it justice. Looking for a lot of power but also clarity and versatility because although I play a lot of PHAT riffs, some do involve full barre chords and I'd also really like to nail that crystal clear clean tone for the ballad-y sections.
I had a listen to the Lundgren M6 and it sounds awesome, especially liked Mattayus' video with the massive Death Metal riffs. However, it's not a cheap set- 230 squigglies and I've heard it being compared to the Duncan Distortion, which despite being a bit wooly on the cleans, is a great bridge pickup, costing significantly less. (Got one in my first build)
Are Lundgrens worth the upcharge in comparison to Seymour Duncan, Dimarzio, etc equivalents?
tough call. i had one and loved it in my maple guitar. didn't love it in swamp ash tho. i have a demo of it ill dig up for you later too
do i think sd or dimarzio makes a comparable pickup? yeah probably. which one I'm not sure. also, the m6 is a bit of a 1 trick pony as i didn't feel like the cleans were anything amazing. just average. but the power and clarity under heavy gain is pretty awesome
