I suppose there are pickups that take down drop-tuning better than the Super Distortions. How low can they go without getting muddy? Definitely they struggle with B standard. D? Thanks!
I don't have an amp. Fender MIM Hot Rod Strat HH > Focusrite 2i4> Amplitube 4 > Sennheiser HD-25 SP II's. Mainly I play the AmpliTube Orange Collection, Thunderverb 200, OR 120 distorted presets.
Hey Brother Man, you have the guitar with a Super Distortion, why dont you tune it down and see what works for you with your setup? I have used a Super Distortion down to A Standard and liked it but it may not be your preference. Just give it a shot :metal:
The Super Distortion was the only rhythm guitar pickup I used on my solo album last year. It sounded amazing in B and C. That, and the Duncan JB are my favorite bridge pickups.
Absolutely depends on the guitar. My favourite pickup (most of the time) is the Seymour Duncan Distortion, but after putting one in my RGT (tuned to drop B) it sounded like dogshit. I tried several other pickups in there, and by far the best sounding one (and the one that's still in there) is the JB - a pickup people generally dissociate with downtuning. If it works, it works.
For what it's worth I have the 7 String version of the Super Distortion and play in Drop A and it's awesome.
