If anyone cares, I wired the guitar back up with the Eric Johnsons this morning. I just like how they sound and feel more - a little less immediate, a little spongier, and super transparent and articulate, until you get to that awesome burnished searing sound from the bridge.

What's in your main strat, and were you more aiming for the best of those three sets or something good-but-different from your main strat?

My silver Strat (currently in the shop for a refret) has a set of Suhr ML Standards in them. I love those pickups, think they sound awesome, but I wanted something a little more vintage and lower output for this one, to set this up as more of a "blues" strat for clean and bluesier stuff, and that one more of a "rock" strat for shreddier stuff. So, I kind of assumed the Texas Specials were going to be the way to go, but turns out I'm just way happier with the sounds I'm getting from the Eric Johnson set.

The irony is while I didn't exactly do a scientific comparison here, the EJs are probably closer in vibe to the suhrs than any of the other sets I tried here, especially in the bridge position.
