Just got this idea. I love the look of a single pickup guitar (as one of my V's are) but I sometimes miss having a neck pickup for clean tones. I know Fender has some teles with pickups under the pickguard and they apparently suggest a hotter pickup..... I just so happen to have a Texas Special tele bridge pickup and the idea is to put it under the pickguard of my Gibson V (has a Duncan Hot P90 in the bridge) and use a push/pull pot to switch between the pickups. Do you think it would suffer a big difference in output? I will pretty much only use it for clean tones so the output difference may not even be an issue, I always use bridge pickups on my leads so I can just crank my clean volume if needed.
Now to find a diagram to wire this thing.
Could be interesting, could sound strange. I say try it and tell us
