In the spirit of manly-unskilled-DIY I was thinking I could improve the upper fret access on my cheapo acoustic by removing a small section of wood near the neck.
I'm not at all worried about how it would look, but do you guys think this would A: cause any structual problems with the guitar, or B: change the sound dramatically?
Theres a bracing bar about inline with the 18th or 19th fret which I guess I'd need avoid!
Here's a rough idea of what I had in mind:
Colossally bad idea. The entire top is braced, so the structural integrity of the guitar really depends on the entire top being there. Go buy a cutaway acoustic, dude.
