Been looking around online for alternatives to the ridiculously pricey and hard to find Ibanez locking nut shims for a little project I got going on.
Some shops sell brass shim material in the same sizes Ibanez use (and, according to Eric Johnson, you should only use brass ), but I don't have anything to cut that with. But is it easy enough to cut with scissors/craft knife?
Another alternative I saw mentioned was the humble drink can. I image that's very easy to cut, but do I need to worry about what drink it came from (Coke regular for beefier tone, Diet Coke for 'tastes like a melted bin bag' tone)?
Are other materials ok? Paper or plastic, for example?
Aluminum foil. Gives super duper control over thickness.
