I am about to drop some pickups in my Ibanez 540p, and want to try something new, but need to know if it is even possible before I try it.
The guitar in question:
What I am wanting to do is, with the farthest switch from the volume knob, is have that is a normal 3 way switch. All the way down is bridge, middle is middle and all the way up is neck. With the second furthest from the volume knob, I want this to be another 3 way switch, that introduces the bridge humbucker when the middle humbucker is selected. The three functions of it would be off, coilsplit, regular. Finally with the last switch, closest to the volume knob, this would be a 2 way switch, that introduces the neck pickup when the middle is selected. The two functions of this switch would be on/off.
Think of this setup as, instead of 5 way switching, it would be 6 way switching. The only reason I am even wanting to do this is, it takes a lot of motions to switch from bridge to neck with the current switching. If I could just throw a regular 3 way in there to handle most normal switchings that I do, and use the other two switches for the inbetween sounds(think positions 2 and 4) and to coilsplit my bridge, that would be great.
Any and all help is appreciated. Thanks in advance!!!
Parts of it are possible but not to your exact specification.
I don't understand why you'd want to make it so convoluted, when you could actually just wire it as (from closest to farthest from volume know) a) neck on/off b) middle on/off c) bridge on/split/off
Which I'm fairly sure is the current wiring.
