I just bought this battered old PRS CU22 on eBay...
I've wanted a guitar with a 2-Tek for a while... Inspired by Matt with his 2Tek retrofit in a PRS McSoapy, I would like to install a 2Tek in this guitar, giving me both a 2Tek guitar AND I'd finally have a lefty prs style trem for another Thorn build.
So, this has been done before - Whack-a-hole
and I think the big gaping hole looks
Since I plan on having it repainted, how sane is it to have the trem cavity (and the 6 screw holes) filled with a chunk of mahogany or something?
Not impossible, money is the key thing here. But it won't cost as much as the bridge.
The biggest issure you will have is that over time, no matter how good the finish, the filled area will start to show as it doesn't expand/contract the same as the rest of the body. If you can live with that then I'd say go for it!
