I have a strat body that i'd like to buy a new neck for. Hoping to get a Charvel or Jackson neck that would work on it. Couple of stupid questions:
Will a locking nut be an issue for any reason? (bridge is a vintage strat style)
Current neck has 21 frets, so I know the replacement will have to as well. Any other measurements to be aware of?
Measure the heel width. Pay attention to the shape of the pocked (squared off or rounded pocket?)Jackson/Charvel stuff should work with a strat. 21 frets will be hard to find in jackson/charvel format - most are 24 frets, some are 22 frets.
Locking nut isn't a biggy as long as you don't lock the nut and the bridge/neck radii match. I block my bridges and leave the locking pads off personally.
