We all know everything at the trem-end matters hugely, between cheap Chinese-made knock-offs and the proper manufacturers (Schaller, Gotoh, Kahler etc), but what about the locking nut?
I need to replace the nut on the PS2, as all the threads are shredded (how!? Seriously the previous owner must have been such a tool. Some of the shit on this guitar is unreal...)
but my question is - is there much of a quality difference at the nut end? Would an £8 locking nut from allparts do just as good a job as a £25 one, or are they all the same damn thing with varying price points based purely on the name?
I'd say it's worth paying the extra, the metal will be stronger and less likely to strip again. I'll try and remember to have a look in my spares box, I think I've got a spare lock nut I'm unlikely to use.
