I want to throw a new set of tubes in my Triple X. I do not want to bring my amp to a tech just to pay him $40-$50 to turn a fucking knob.
I know the external bias know does not give you a true voltage reading, but I was wondering if I would have an issue by doing this.
If I turn the amp on, let it heat up for about 20 minutes and then hooking up to the external bias points to see what they are at now. Then, I will swap tubes, let them heat up for 20 minutes, then use the external bias points to make sure nothing changed?
I would imagine it would work seeing as that I have never had an issue with this amp blowing tubes.
Or would it be better just to bring my amp to a tech and pay them?
Honestly, just buy a set of tubes from EuroTubes and be done with it. You don't really need to bias if you have a matched set for your amp.
