last weekend I installed DiMarzios in my JP70 and a push-pull pot for splitting the humbuckers.
I used the DiMarzio wiring scheme according to which I needed to get the DiMarzio 3-way toggle switch, so I could not use the original 3-way toggle.
The difference between the two is that the DiMarzio switch has way more connections (12 IIRC) and the original switch only has 3.
The only thing tht bothers me is the chrome look of the DiMarzio switch while the original switch was black which looks nicer IMO.
So my question is: can the same switching be done with using the original 3-way toggle switch as opposed to the DiMarzio one?
I found a wiring scheme online that suggests so, but now I am confused if it really works the same way.
I attached both schemes for reference.
edit: also another question: what is the north coil and the south coil? My guess would be north coil being the coil closer to the neck and south coil being the coil closer to the bridge. Is that right?
The scheme from guitar electronics will do what you need. if you need to split coils independently for the two humb, you'll need another push pull...
as for north/ south, it refers to the magnet orientation. Don't worry about it, the only thing you really need to know is the wire color code for the humbs you're using
