So, while searching for a cheap lo-fi microphone and laughing about the irony of lo-fi microphones being $200+ I discovered this on ebay for $22
As soon as I saw it, I thought to myself I could totally make that and i've got everything needed but a piezo. Not going to do the rusted look....too time consuming and clear coating involved. Instead i'm going to paint it flat black and move the output jack to the bottom. I haven't decided if i'm going to use a 1/4" jack or a XLR. The only problem I have ran into is I need to be able to mount this on a microphone stand because I need a lo-fi mic to pull of some things live.... I have yet to find anything that I could use or modify to make this mount onto a stand. This should be a fairly easy project but i'll post pics and updates if anyone is interested in such a thing.
