I'm trying to set the action on my Jackson DR7. The problem I'm having is the action on frets 1-12 is a bit high, but the action on frets 13-22 is a bit lower, with a few slightly dead notes.
The guitar has 10-68g strings on it in Bb standard. I've tightened the truss rod on it, to where it just has a bit of relief in it. The truss rod seems to be pretty tight at this point, so I don't know about tightening it more.
The bridge is a TOM, and I've tried to set it pretty level, but I don't know exactly what height it should be at.
I normally have my guitars set up by a tech, but I'm trying to learn how to do the adjustments myself. Any ideas on what I should try next?
sounds like the nut slots are cut too high and you have the bridge too low to compensate
