I'll keep it simple.
I finished this guitar a year and a half ago. It sounds killer and the action rules, but I didn't cut back the fret tangs so they're a hassle. I want to fix them but what's the best way? I realize filing will fuck up my finish. Which brings me to number 2 issue. The finish.
I wanted to try something different so I sprayed in nitro. Not really thrilled with the finish. It's damn thin and I sprayed like 2 quarts on the thing over a months time. I'm ready to just re spray in automotive paint. Maybe. Anyone have any ideas for me? I can do any color....
Thanks here are photos
I've never done a refret.... Is it difficult?
If you sprayed 2 quarts on there there's no way its thin. Thin is 5-7mil, and doesn't take nearly that much finish, spraying that much would put you at 10-15mil, if not more. Thin finishes are preferred by virtually everyone anyways.
Refrets are easy, just got to use heat on the fret (soldering iron) and a good fret pulling set of nippers... If you fretted it, you surely can refret it. I'm sure there are YouTube videos on the subject.
