Ok, so my Suhr came with a pair of humbuckers, a three way blade, a volume, and a tone with a coil tap for both pickups. Tapped, I currently get the neck coil of the neck pickup, and (I'd have to check, but I imagine) the bridge coil of the bridge.
Individually they sound awesome, but I mostly like a coil tap in this situation so I can get a Strat-y out of phase middle position, which would require the two inside coils. I really like the neck coil tapped but I'd be willing to give that up for a stratty position 2/4 sound.
I've switched the stock pickups for Bareknuckles. Looking at this, it looks like the north coil is red/green and the south coil is black/white.
If I remember right, this is how I have the guitar wired now - not 100% sure, but eyeballing it it looks right.
I'm thinking what I need to do is swap the black and the red wires - send the black to the switch and the red to the ground. If I do that, it should give me the inside coils rather than the outside coils. Is that right? Also, do I need to do anything to get the inside coils out of phase, or will that likely already be the case?
Well that diagram has the inner coils being the active ones when the switch is engaged. If you're wanting to change it, you'd need to change which coil is sent to ground and which one is kept active. This diagram will allow you to adjust which coils are active in your switch, just use the correct colour coding and you're good to go.
