Background: I practice minimally, maybe 2 nights a week, I play a total of 2-3 hours a week unless I have a gig, and I only gig maybe once a month, twice tops.
Considering a new guitar and trying to decide whether I want stainless steel frets or to avoid them. I know Allen/AVH posted a lengthy article how they eat strings faster. I usually string my guitars with Elixirs so they can last a super long time, and I don't want this to be negated by steel frets wearing them down faster.
Anybody have first hand experience with stainless steel frets? I like the prospect of longer lasting frets even with the little amount I play, but I don't want to do it if it's not worth it from a string perspective.
Go stainless. They're awesome.
I haven't noticed strings wearing out any faster on my SS guitars vs. nickel ones, and I also use Elixirs.
