So Here's my issue;
A few weeks ago I picked up some weird, George Lynch looking Custom guitar that was suprisingly good for the insanely short money I payed (Very, Very late NGD coming soon...ish) Anyway, after a quick setup, it was on its feet, and sounded amazing, which made me wonder, because the pickups were almost level with the body. Whatever, no big deal. I go to raise them, and the posts are bent under the pickups so I take them out, and to my surprise; Dimarzios! this is good, and explains why it sounds good. Pop em back in raised a little bit, and fine. pop open the back panel, decent insulation, questionable wiring, and a very shoddy DIY "tone knob" wobbling everywhere. also a little selector switch that has questionable Bridge and neck.
1 Week later
Pick her up and plug her in: pure mud, low volume, mud. what the actual fuck? tone knob isn't working, nor is the switch.
So my question to you all is, is my issue just bad wiring? or maybe just the "tone" pot and the switch, I really dont want to go and have the whole thing rewired if it's just a stupid pot & switch.
Just rewire the whole thing if it's a shoddy job. You'll spend less time putting in a nice new pot, some clean hot solder joints and a new jack that you would trying to trouble shoot which component if fucked.
