Not sure why, but lately I've gotten the bug to try building my own overdrive pedal. For starters I'd want to do a simple Tube Screamer clone and then over time get a little further into tweaking existing designs, etc.
Are there any good TS clone starter kits one of you guys would recommend? Not overly concerned about like a finished exterior (honestly, I'd probably prefer unfinished steel) so much as just something that will be pretty rugged and sound good when I'm done.
Otherwise, if you think diving straight in with a schematic and sourcing my own parts makes the most sense, well, let me know.
I've been thinking about building a simplified (true bypass, no buffers) TS myself.
There are kits at General Guitar Gadgets | General Guitar Gadgets is the best DIY stompbox site on the internet! We feature projects, kits and ready-to-solder PCBs. and Welcome to BYOC – Build Your Own Clone (and other places), but I think I'm just going to source parts and do it on veroboard. I'd love to find a place that will sell me a parts kit, no PCB, no enclosure.
