Ok, so I've been finishing a headstock for a guitar I am building. Now I can get the lacquer down to awesome shine with the wet sanding, so that's all good, but then I apply a decal.
Now, the decal is fine untill i try clearcoating it, at which point all the edges seperate, and curl up, giving it a ridged feel.
I did a test clear on a piece of wood, and that seemed to go fine (with an old decal from years ago), but both of my attempts on the headstock have gone wrong. Anyone have any ideas of what I am doing wrong? Any tips? Or do I need to get a totally different clear?
I thought the decal went on after the clear. No?
