At the moment ive been using a polyurethane finish on guitars im refurbishing but im not getting the shine I want (its still nice just not what i want) so im curios as to what anybody else uses and tips for applying it.
For bodies I take a paintbrush and put three coats on then sand it then one more on top and it comes out pretty nice but not what I want.
You will want to use a spray setup to get the best shine. Brushing on will leave very uneven coats and will incur lots of sanding. Be sure to san to 800 between coats and then sand to 2000 then buff with a medium, fine and extra fine compound until glassy. Its a lot of work but that how you have to do it to get that mirror finish
