So, I had purchased a used RGT42DXFM, and just put in a set of Pegasus/Sentient pickups (holy fuck the amount of solder i had to take off), forgetting to block off the bridge. I went to readjust the back spring screws, and found out one of them is stripped.
Now, I figure I just go and buy two new tremolo Claw Screws, but it got me thinking if I should also change out the entire Edge III(?) tremolo, since I hear people complain about it often. How much of an upgrade am I looking at, by replacing it with this?
If I don't replace it, I would be putting the cash into getting this for my piece of shit Gibson Baldwin, that is now collecting dust. I may also upgrade the nut, and possibly the wiring, due to volume/tone issues (I haven't looked inside before, to check).
tl;dr - should I buy a new tremolo system for Ibanez, or upgrade the older guitar.
Just buy a new guitar. Hell for the price of a proper trem you could buy an old used Japanese RG with an Edge or Edge pro for under $300 if you look around. I bought my RG520 for $300 with a hard case and it kicks ass.
