Today i swapped out my JB for a SD Custom, while i was at it i removed the bridge from the push pull, leaving the neck connected so when pushed, it alone would be coil split. But i am not able to blend the bridge humbucker with the coil split neck when the 3way is in the middle position. If i lower either volumes to zero no sound comes out. I would like to be able to lower the volume on the bridge while keeping the neck at full volume, in effect blending the coil split neck with the bridge humbucker.
Is that possible? Is it an easy fix? Here is a crude drawing of the wiring. Ive left out some ground/output connections to make things clearer. Many thanks in advance!
There is much wrong with that diagram. Basically each pickups hot should go to lug one on the respective volume pots (so the black cable) whilst the green and bare goes to the back of the pots. The red and white cables should be twisted and soldered together, with the pair from the neck pickup should be wired to your push pull pot. One side of the switch should be empty and the other should have a connection to ground so that it grounds out the coup when engaged. That way you'll have a split sound on the neck and when you roll back the volume you won't lose all your signal. I can throw together a diagram tomorrow morning if this hasn't helped.
