I love my RG7, but I could tell it had something inside that needed to get out. I loved the look of the plain oiled mahogany but there where a few tweaks I have been needing to do to make it truly my own axe.
First I love single coils, just not in my metal guitar and especially in the middle position so that's going. I also never use the tone knob accept to make sure it isn't accidentally turned down, so its going. I don't think I have ever had a humbucker that I liked when it was split, and hate when I accidentally put it in the second or third position, so the five way switch is going.
Now I have 0 plans on ever selling this but I still did not want to put holes in the top, but wanted a pick-guard as I like how they look..personal preference I guess. It also will cover up the single coil hole as well as the hole for the mini switch that was added for coil tapping. How am I going to do that without drilling holes you ask? Fortunately Stew Mac sells sheets of pick-guard adhesive backing. Im gonna nip the heads off the mount screws and lightly glue them in place to fill those holes and be all stealthy like.
SO...you may wonder where all this is going..
Three way Tele switch
Black Pearloid 7620 Pickguard from Perle (who rock btw)
White kill switch like the ones EVH uses on the Stealth where the tone used to be
New Graphtec Tusq nut
Seymour Duncan Liberator 500K pot/PU terminal mount block
Tremelo Black Box stopper thingamabob
Already added FU Upgrades Brass Block
Im starting this tonight and wont be able to finish it until next week, but just to get things rollin here are some pics..
