I picked up a Jackson , and the bridge sits really high. The action is too high because of it. Can I lower the bridge while its under tension from the strings? I was told I have yo adjust the rod first. That doesnt make sense to me though. Maybe im wrong. Can anyone guide me along lowering my action?
thanks very much, Mike
As for adjusting the trem under tension, if it's a two point trem (all locking trems and some vintage style ones) don't adjust it under tension.
What happens is the pressure of the strings and springs pushes against the post and if you start turning the post, you have a miniature lathe. The knife edges start cutting into the posts creating dead spots, deep grooves and generally fucking your ability to successfully return the trem to zero point.
