So a couple of years bacj, I bought a first gen Ibanez RG7420 . Or pieces of it, I should say. One of the problems was that the wood around the Floyd pivot had cracked, and someone tried to glue it back in with c*m.
Luckly all the pieces are here!
After stripping the body of the little paint it had left, filling out the dents and dings, I glued a nice burl veneer to the top.
I f**ked up bookmatching the veneers...
And Then, Eureka! A priece of aluminium.
Burl veneer top, faux binding and black back.
Testing out some back cover designs... 3 ply mahogany veneer.
After some clear coat
The aluminium center stripe. Could use a good buffing too...
And she's ready for strings.
The finish isn't as nice as it looks: there's some dust and scuffs in the clear coat, the faux binding has some color bleed (after doing it and redoing it 2 or 3 times, I went all Venom on it and just said "F+-k it", ah ah ah.
Might do some chrome thing on the knobs, like Gibson Sg style. The headstock has the Silver Ibanez logo still on it, so I think some Chrome looks good.
