I'm sure everyone has a trick. My floyd has been chirping and generally making some noise due to the fact that the springs are stretched way out. For some reason when I added a big block, it needs way more tension to float level. Stretching the springs out really causes them to vibrate more, which I found out last night with fresh strings, was causing a chirp feedback when chugging palm muted. Took me a while but I finally discovered the the culprit. So my simple solution was to wrap each spring in Velcro ( soft side to the spring ). Not only did it solve the chirping, but it generally sounds way cleaner and tighter.
it still flutters awesome too
I use foam noodles inside the springs. Stops them dead and doesn't cause any issues with the material getting stuck in between the winds and fucking up the return to zero
