My Jackson SLAT3-6 (OFR) has gone to shit as of last week. It's been one of my most solid guitars which I've used live every week since I bought it about 4 months ago, capable of divebombing for days. Now, all of a sudden, it's VERY out of tune with trem use. I'm not talking about a little inconsistency with returning to pitch, I mean seriously out of goose. When the trem returns to zero, the bottom two strings are a quartertone sharp, whilst the rest are flat.
The strings are stretched in,
The posts and knife edges are in good shape and well lubricated,
Springs aren't old, in good shape,
Locking nut is fully functional and in good shape,
Everything is locked down as it should be.
This hasn't happened gradually, it's been very sudden. So I'm confused. I'm obviously missing something. Any ideas?
Are the saddles slipping?
Also, is there any movement in the bushings? I once had a Jackson that developed a crack in the wood at the bushing and that made the trem useless.
