Well, building from scratch nothing will be charged anyway. Plus if you do it the right way you install bleed resisters to discharge the caps automatically once the power is off.

Also, c3amps does sloclone kits as well, and as you're in the US, it's viable (no import costs/shipping etc) and it's a killer amp.

I'll second this. With the fact that I haven't been able to build anything since my son was born I have the itch so I will be glad to offer help where I can.

With the SLO it's so well documented it's pretty hard to go wrong. I think c3amps now has a photo instruction guide in the making. Some of it is already on the site.

Hmm. What's the wattage of your SLO? A low-watt poweramp with a SLO pre could be fun, though the odds of me not fucking it up are very, very, very low - when I first plugged in my overdrive, I literally said, alone in my room, out loud, "holy shit it works!"

mine is 50w but it's doable at a lower wattage.

If you just want something small though I'd look elsewhere as it loses its character when you drop the wattage.

There's a 3u rack preamp kit called anvil that I think musikding sell though if you want a slo.

Is possibly look into the ceriatone stuff though. There's the son of yeti which is roughly 20w dual 6v6 that covers pretty much any kind of Marshall tone you could want and that's about $500 for the kit I think.

I also think there's a 20w silver jubilee type amp coming soon too.

Has anyone cracked the Hot Rod 25 yet? I'd love to build an amp, but the HR25 has the better FX loop and a more reasonable power rating and still uses dual 5881s . . .

If you kill yourself wiring up an amp, we are going to crowdfund a gravestone that says,

Not sure to be honest but there was a video with Mike Soldano where he implied its the same with lower voltages and different transformers.

Do good chance it's just a few resistor changes and different filtering in the power amp beyond the transformers.
