I've been having some frustrating nights lately working on this song. The verses have this pretty sick riff over a chord progression of Bm-G-D-Em-C#aug, Bm-D-Em-G-A. The verses sound great and I'm really happy with it.
Now here's the hard part, I'm making a variation of the rhythm pattern for the guitar solo section of the song. I'm trying to keep the chord progression the same but with a different rhythm. I can solo over it, but I just can't get this one to sound dramatic, which is something I think I have some ability to do.
I'm thinking of variating the chord progression now a little bit, but everything I think of seems to sound like a prior song of mine. I'm looking to do something a little more fresh in this song.
I don't know if I'm looking for ideas or just venting some frustration here, but I'd like to hear your thoughts on this.
Go listen to an album that you loved when you started playing guitar, that you haven't listened to in a long time.
Ozzy/Randy's "Tribute" usually works for me.
