I wasn't sure if I should put this in here or in the fitness section so sorry if it's in the wrong place
How many of you here have tendon/other wrist arm issues from playing guitar? How do you guys work around it? I'm recovering from a bad bit of tendinitis in my picking hand (as well as some shoulder tendinitis on my fretting arm, but that wasn't guitar related) and outside of being unable to play anything with tight riffing (so anything fun) I'm pretty sure I'm all healed up but I'm really worried about it coming back once I start picking more aggressively again. I've been doing a lot of ice dipping, self-massage, and taking some magnesium but if you guys have any other tips share 'em
I do, but I don't know if it's guitar related or not. It doesn't hamper my playing at all because I do crazy psycho stretches and wrist/arm exercises before playing. And we've got the tightest playing on the planet - with speeds up to 260bpm too!
I don't know what the exact problem with my wrists is, but whenever I move them, I can hear really loud cracking and popping sounds (and it feels like the carpals in there move more than normal when I do an exaggerated movement of the wrists). And about two or three times a week, my wrists will start to really hurt.
What I've found that really really helps is this:
