Lately i've been coming up with all kinds of ideas for neat riffs, quick pull off run downs, etc etc...
Problem is, i can't play it the way i want to (read: fast enough).
I've been in this rut for 4 years now. I just can't get any faster than i am now without 'blobing' it all together. Moreover, my pick hand wrist just ends up getting stupid tight after just a few seconds of really fast picking.
I feel like im a better idea guy than i am a player. I literally have 2 albums worth of riffs, bridges and mid sections pretty much all worked out already... i just can't play it 100% once to record it. I just spent the last 60 min playing the same 4 bar riff over and over again. Then i sat and listened to it for another hour.
Not ONCE did i play it right.
Ctrl + d.
anyone else find themselves doing this?
I think its good to push oneself, but i tend to fall off the cliff
Yep. I used to do it before I had my daughter, and in the year she's been born my playing abilities have massively diminished due to the limitations placed on the amount of time I have to practice by a young baby and moving house twice in that time. I feel your pain.
