    Just learned Future Breed Machine

This song isnt exactly difficult but there are certain parts that i actually played without even looking at the tab just because i've heard the song so many times. I did the same with rational gaze.

I reckon both of these songs would be pretty difficult to get if you had never heard them before. Anyone else find themselves picking up odd timings a lot easier if you just go with it rather than knowing what time signature you are actually playing.

I've had a knack for picking up the stacatto/oddly syncopated stuff for quite a while, as I've played that much of it that its a natural feel to me.

I do like to know what time signature it is in though, not to learn how to play it, but to get comfortable with how that time signature feels so if I ever want that feel, I can bust it out myself in something.

I know what ya mean. There are alot of songs like that for me too. I know how they go in my head, and i dont know any of the timing or any of that shit, but my hand falls into place and i can anticipate where the next notes are.

Meshuggah did an interview a few months back for Guitar World. They said their songs are mostly in 4/4 time it's just that the notes are oddly placed.
