I´m new here. I tried a couple of other forums and google/youtube but didnt find anything usefull to me. I hope that you can help me
I have played guitar for a little more than 1year. First half I learned the basics of guitar. I have now learned the "basics" of playing metal and that is what I want to play. I play songs up to 180-190 but then I get a reeally diffucult time. What to do about that??
And also when I even play whatever ever. I dont get this sound when it´s really tight and accuraty. I play sloppy and I dont know what to do about it.
I practicly only play songs. Playing with the real songs or in guitarpro/powertab and adjusting the tempo.
I want to play death/trash-metal rythm. Leadguitar, sure would be cool to be good at but nothing for me.
Practice. With a metronome helps.
If you can't do it slow, you won't be able to do it fast.
One suggestion that is very oftentimes given (because it's just plain good advice) is to start practicing a certain difficult riff at a tempo slightly below what you are perfectly comfortable with and keep adding 1bpm to the metronome. When you are comfortable with a tempo, you add another 1bpm. If you find you cannot comfortably play at the tempo, you remove 1bpm and play at that barely comfortable tempo until it is perfectly comfortable and then you move it up some more.
My band has songs at 215bpm, 220bpm, and even one at 250bpm (and one that my drummer says is 300bpm, even though I personally consider it to be 150bpm with one part with straight 16th notes), but I never could have played ANY of those songs after only 1 year of playing guitar.
One key to it is alternate picking. You cannot do most death or fast thrash rhythm with just down picking. Being able to do triplets is also important.
