    help with improving gallop picking

i've been playing for a little less than a year and just within the last month have been trying to improve my gallop picking,i am able to gallop pick to an extent but its not very fluid all the time, i've also been trying to learn battery, i think my prob is i try to speed up to fast, should i just spend a couple hours a day doing gallops to a metronome?

Yes... just like everything else guitar, start slow, practice with a metronome. Don't increase the tempo until you're comfortable with the current tempo, etc...

This is one of the first songs I learned how to play some of the riffs too that has the kind of style I presume you are referring to.

Or just get some tabs for songs off Iced Earth's "Night of The Stormrider".

Yeah, you got it, hit a metronome hard. A metronome is always the answer.
