Anybody know of a good source for beginner backing tracks? My daughter's at the point where she knows (but doesn't really know she knows) C & G Major Scales (although, she sometimes mixes-up the F/F#) in 1st position and we're working on the A Minor Pentatonic in 5th position.
Yesterday she said, "Real musicians play what ever they want. They don't play other people's songs". She's a bit more "artsy" and less structured than I am, so I knew what she meant, but didn't have the words for was, "Father dearest, I desire the facility and time to partake in the activity known as "jamming", where I may improvise in a relatively unstructured format to my heart's content."
I can easily get her some drum tracks to "jam" over, but I thought if she had some simple backing tracks in the scales she knows, she'll have a bit more fun.
just search YouTube for 'backing tracks', dude. There are hundreds on there. Many of them will state what key they're in, and even more will be very simple and stick to basic harmony.
