I just joined here, and I did not see the "Introduce yourself" section I see on many forums. My apologies if I missed it.
I want some advice on building badass metal rhythm chops, really fast.
My deal is, I have been a drummer for 17 years. i have dabbled in guitar on and off most of this time, but never that dedicated.
I have been drumming in a hard rock original band for years, but we just split ways (sort of for the second time now I suppose).
There are only three of us left, and the current rhythm player is honestly, probably a better metal style drummer than I am. Metal isn't my drumming background.
Anyway, point of story, he is more than happy to take over drumming duties, if I can get my guitar rhythm chops up by the end of summer. And I really just want to try guitar for a change, and he really wants to drum. It just sort of makes sense.
I am "okay" but want to get pretty damn good, pretty damn quick. I have the time, but I DO NOT have money. I am actually in a financial situation, lessons are pretty much not going to happen.
I would appreciate any free resources that could be recommended to me. Sources, whether its a youtube channel, that a person feels are well put together, thought out, tutorials.
Thanks in advance to any advice.
I was reading around this place a bit and it seems like a good forum.
