I can play a lot of rhythms pretty well - but one thing I constantly struggle with is developing my timing on the low-e galloping or palm muted fast 16th's at pace.
I think I know what most of you are saying.."Oh for fucks sake progrmr quit being a pussy and play that shit...it's easy!!"
I don't know if its my timing or my physical technique - but I can't get this down to save my life.
example - Avenged Sevenfold, Shepherd of Fire. Very easy song - but I swear I cannot get those open 16ths during the verse timed properly. It's pissing me off.
Here's what I'm talking about in picture form (Shepherd Of Fire verse):
I have this issue with a lot metallica songs as well - I'm just very sloppy when it comes to nailing those fast palm muted phrases.
Any recommendations on exercises or training material (paid or not - I don't care!!) that can help me get this essential technique down?
pull out a metronome and just practice. Start slow and increase the tempo slowly as long as you keep it clean.
In my opinion I don't believe in specific exercises I think you'll get more into it if it's something you're trying to learn or if it's a certain technique just make up a pattern that will keep you interested.
