I'm a beginner and have been using Andy James' Metal Rhythm dvd series. Week 2 he gets into drop d tuning and shows the D Natural Minor Scale and the D Phyrgian Dominant Scale. He also goes over some chord progressions that go along with these scales. These 2 scales are pretty simple and similar to each other. My interest is metal rhythm style playing and I really like drop d tuning.
My question is are there other scales in drop d tuning besides these 2 that I could learn?
Yes, all scales can be played in D or any other key. Play the shapes he shows you in other positions and you are now playing that scale in another Key besides D. I love A and E myself as well as D as Im not very original.
