Similar to the fitness thread, anybody got any musical goals for the year? I have, and I'm gonna try to hit them all.

Finish recording an EP/album - I've played on a couple of albums that have been released before, but never anything that's entirely mine. I want to rectify that. Never thought Drew would finish his before me! I have five songs almost finished, but two of them are pretty lame. Need to write more and better songs.

Master or at least get a lot better at hybrid and swybrid picking.

Get tidier and more refined in my overall techniques. Watching some of the guys I follow on YouTube is very inspiring, but also shows I have a long way to go!

Finish learning Virgil Donati's In This Life album (currently managed half of it).

Finish work on computer game music - I got a gig working on a game's music earlier this year. It's annoyingly slow progress on the game developers' part, but I'm glad for the opportunity, so wanna try and knock it out of the park.

Get better at improvising. I want to be able to do 'music at the speed of thought', like most of my musical heroes. This is probably the toughest goal.

Oh yeah, left one out. It'd be great to work on stuff with other people, too. But that's somewhat out of my hands. :/

Get primary band booked at some summer festivals.

Play at least one show with second band.

    Learn to play fiddle.

Finish writing at least a few of the songs that I have half-done.

Release new EP or album with main band, find bassist, gig lots, get better as a band, actually build a fanbase maybe.

Release new EP or album from more progressive solo side project.

Maybe release singer/songwriter solo EP or album finally.

    Do some solo gigs.

Collaborate more and find other outlets for music performance/production, maybe find a way to make some money doing it (not a cover band).

Would love to put together a Deftones cover set for the annual charity cover shows in November. Already know a drummer who would be down.

Mine is to learn the recording process better and use the tools I have for it WAY better so I can actually get the sounds recorded to represent the material I'm doing well.
