    Pinch Harmonic Appreciation Thread

We've needed one of these for a long time. Let's talk about Pinch Harmonics, the greatest way of showing your guitar you love it. Let's talk legendary albums with Pinch Harmonics, great pinch harmonics throughout history, and perfect pinch harmonics that you have only beheld for a fleeting instant before they were gone like tears in the rain.

Let's start with *the* quintessential pinch harmonic.

This is also a fine vintage of pinch harmonic.

Lately I've personally been in the mode for pinch harmonics served in a savory sauce of egregious 80s delay.

I've never wanted to use this gif so bad before. Everyone makes a big deal about bends and vibratos and forget the glory of a proper pinch harmonic.

My favourite PH's... any idea what fret he plays them with. From what i can tell its on the 3 fret on the low E string (but played in DropC) but i can never get them to sound like the album?!

Man, I remember being a fledging young guitarist and hearing pinch harmonics for the first time. That shit blew my mind. I remember at the time, the only guys I had to jam with her some friends who lived nearby, but they were all into Blink 182 and other pop-punk type stuff. I'd play that stuff with them but you'd best fucking believe I threw pinch harmonics in all over the place.

I first got into PH's from Eric Johnson and the different ways he did it, but then I heard Ozzy's "Perry Mason" and shit changed real fucking fast.

I use two techniques to get mine; the side of the thumb like most people and depending on what I'm doing, I sometimes curl my fingers in and use the knuckle of my ring finger to hit them. I used to cup my whammy bar like David Gilmour and kept hitting harmonics by accident, so eventually I just worked it into a habit.

I think Mattayus needs to post a bunch of his stuff in this thread because his pinch harmonics are godlike.

Also, this song has some good ones:
