I've been working on my wrist vibrato for a while now, and I'm finally getting decent at it. The problem is that my wrist starts hurting pretty bad after about half an hour now. I'm playing a 26.5" guitar strung with 10s, and I realize the obvious answer would be to drop down to 9s, but I'd like to avoid that if possible because I just really don't like the way they feel.
So, does anyone have any good tips on building wrist strength or avoiding wrist pain?
Adjust your playing stance to minimise the angle at which your wrist is bent. If you're hurting at the wrist after playing for half an hour, it could be your wrist is at too tight an angle which messes with the tendons. The straighter the wrist, the better your endurance and the lower your risk of injury.
