I have a bit of a problem- although I'm getting more motivated to practice daily, I just can't for more than an hour at a push. I have friends who can sit the whole day shredding but I just get bored instantly, ending up checking Facebook/wasting time on the internet in some other way and I think that is what is holding my playing back a lot.
I get the impression that I'm one of the younger regulars on this forum, so I've grown up in the presence of ever faster growing technology, hence being used to impatience. (Yeah, go on, start circlejerking about instant gratification ) I'm not happy with that though and my playing could be so much better if I could just carry out my routine without getting bored of each exercise within a minute.
Any tips/experience? Cheers.
If it's not enjoyable, it's not the path for you. Rather than having technique-focused practices, try doing something more informal like learning every riff on an album you love.
